Biography
Chicago greeted Edward Sheldon on 4 February 1886, and by his thirtieth birthday he had already steered three very different vessels onto the stage and screen: the maritime yarn *On the High Seas* (1922), the sweeping love story *Romance* (1930), and the carnival-bright comedy *A Coney Island Princess* (1916). After three decades of coaxing hearts and imaginations to life with ink and ambition, he closed his final act in New York City on 1 April 1946.
