Biography

Paris shimmered in the spring of 1858 when Egerton Castle drew his first breath on 12 March, and the city of light would echo in his pen for the rest of his days. A teller of swashbuckling romances, he spun bestsellers such as The Incomparable Mistress Bellairs (1914), saw Young April bloom on-screen in 1926, and watched Sweet Kitty Bellairs dance into talkies in 1930. His co-author and steadfast partner was his wife, Agnes Castle. The final curtain fell on 17 September 1920, in London, where the onetime Parisian-born storyteller closed his last chapter.
