Biography
Paris welcomed Eugène Brieux into the world on 19 January 1858, and the stage soon welcomed him in return. With a pen sharpened for social critique, he carved out dramas that still echo—most famously the twin filmings of Damaged Goods, first in 1914 and again in 1919, and later The Cradle in 1922. He took his final bow in Nice on 6 December 1932, leaving behind a legacy that refuses to fade.
