Biography
Walsall, England, 3 June 1866: George Broadhurst enters the world, and the stage never quite recovers. By 1914 he’s luring audiences northward with The Call of the North, then flips the coin four years later for Rich Man, Poor Man. Talkies arrive; he greets them with Today in 1930, proving his pen can survive the microphone’s glare. Along the way he shares two lifetimes of curtains and cues—first with playwright Lillian Trimble Bradley, later with Ida Raymond. Final curtain falls on 31 January 1952 in sun-washed Santa Barbara, California, but the stories he set in motion keep taking their bows.
