Biography

Seventh of May, 1887: Danvers, Massachusetts greets a restless dreamer named George DuBois Proctor. Within three short years he trades New England calm for the flicker of Fort Lee, jumping from bit player to serial hero as the cliff-hanger craze grips America. In 1915 alone he stalks through the greed-soaked reels of One Million Dollars and steals scenes in the marriage-gone-awry comedy The Other Girl. Two years later he’s the two-fisted sleuth unraveling labor-corruption knots in the 15-chapter thriller Framing Framers, chasing saboteurs across rooftops and racing hand-cranked cameras to the edge of every frame. When the lights dim on silent-era cliff-hangers, Proctor slips behind the lens, editing and directing into the 1930s, keeping the pulse of early cinema alive long after the projectors cool.
