Biography
Brooklyn welcomed Hayden Talbot on 1 March 1882, and the borough’s restless energy rode with him straight onto early movie sets. Between 1917 and 1924 he slipped behind the camera for Alimony, toyed with audiences in the melodrama The Married Virgin, and wound up his silent-era career with the taut courtroom thriller It Is the Law. Off-screen, his heart proved as busy as his lens: over the decades he exchanged rings with Esther Roof Pausner, Norma Mitchell, and finally Alice Benedict White Bristow, writing—and rewriting—his own life script three times over.
