Biography
Born in Boonville, Indiana, on 20 October 1891, Monte M. Katterjohn turned small-town roots into big-screen stories. Before audiences savored the Arctic lure of *The Flame of the Yukon* (1926), the tropical lull of *Paradise Island* (1930), or the lawless swagger of *The Gun Fighter* (1917), Katterjohn’s typewriter was already firing plot into motion. Off set, he shared life’s edits with wife Phyllis Knell. Six decades after his first breath, the credits rolled: he died in Evansville, Indiana, on 8 September 1949.
