Biography
Windham, Ohio greeted Oliver D. Bailey on 25 April 1875, and from that quiet start he forged a career behind the camera and the typewriter. Between 1915’s The Melting Pot and the swirling melodrama of The Whirl of Life—both released the same year—he shaped early American screen narratives, later steering Blind Love in 1920. Off-set, he shared his life with Lillian A. Canfield. Bailey’s final scene unfolded on 12 July 1932 in the lakeside town of Harrison, Maine.
