Biography
Otto Detlefsen entered the world on 24 November 1881 in Denmark, and over the next eight decades he would slip between the footlights and the pages with equal ease. Moviegoers remember him from the silent-era thrills of *Den hvide rytterske* (1915) and *Manegens Børn* (1915), while earlier, in 1912, he stirred scandalous whispers in *En Mesalliance*. Off-screen he spun stories as a writer, and off-stage he shared his life with two wives—Baptista Schreiber and, later, Anna Englund. The curtain fell for the last time on 11 February 1963, still in the country that had watched him grow from infant to innovator.
