Biography
A midwinter baby, Raymond C. Hill arrived in Illinois on 5 February 1890 and grew up to trade cornfields for cliffhangers. Between 1914 and 1920 he set three milestones in early cinema: the prophetic thriller *The Coming Power*, the shadow-drenched mystery *The Black Circle*, and the incandescent adventure *The Green Flame*. Forty-one springs later, on 16 April 1941, the lights dimmed for the last time in Hollywood, California, where the once-prolific scenarist took his final bow.
