Biography
Dublin greeted Herbert Brenon on 13 January 1880, and from that first cry he seemed destined to conjure moving dreams for the world. Behind the camera he became a master storyteller, guiding silent-era audiences through burning desert outposts in Beau Geste (1926), medieval tournaments in Ivanhoe (1913), and the tender sacrifices of Sorrell and Son (1927). Off-screen, Helen Brenon shared his life’s plot. The final curtain fell on 21 June 1958 in Los Angeles, but the flicker of the tales he shaped still lights screens today.
