Biography
Ralph Ince, the baby of a cinematic trio that included John and Thomas H. Ince, began in front of silent-era cameras, stepped behind them when talkies arrived, then slid smoothly into scene-stealing character roles. After a spell only in front of the lens, he reclaimed the director’s chair and, from 1934 until his final breath, steered a string of British features that proved his second act abroad was no footnote but a flourishing encore.
