Born under the wide skies of Iowa on 8 October 1876, Richard Stanton first stepped before the camera as an actor, then quickly moved behind it, shaping silent-era stories that crackled across nickelodeon screens. Between 1915 and 1920 he steered three now-legendary one-reelers and serials—Graft, The Beast, and Bride 13—each one a testament to his knack for turning flickering shadows into white-knuckle suspense.
