Biography
Born among the stone-roofed houses of Trivigno, Basilicata, on 5 August 1882, Robert G. Vignola crossed the Atlantic with little more than a fierce glare and a flair for drama. He first stepped before the camera, then quickly moved behind it, guiding the silent shadows of The Knife (1918) and the vamping menace of More Deadly Than The Male (1919). Three decades—and a few hundred reels—later, he closed the final scene of his life in Hollywood, California, on 25 October 1953.
