Rewi's Last Stand

The winter of 1863 casts a pall of apprehension over Auckland, a fledgling settlement gripped by the looming threat of Māori resistance. Into this volatile atmosphere steps Sir George Grey, England's pro-consul, tasked with navigating the treacherous political currents and quelling the burgeoning unrest. Amidst the tension, Dr. Wake, a local surgeon, and his daughter Cecily find their lives intersecting with Kenneth Gordon, a young Englishman newly arrived in the colony. Their burgeoning friendship, however, is quickly overshadowed by the escalating Waikato War. As the conflict intensifies, Gordon is drawn into the fray, enlisting with Von Tempsky's Corps of Forest Rangers.
