Summary
Si Jenks, a provincial theatrical polymath whose boundless repertoire encompasses the entire dramatic gamut of bygone thrillers, ventures beyond the familiar confines of his village, propelled by an ardent desire for professional acclaim. His odyssey into the unforgiving theatrical landscape, however, is met with an unrelenting barrage of indifference and outright rejection, systematically dismantling his aspirations. Disillusioned and defeated, he retreats to the sanctuary of his former life, only to confront a final, poignant betrayal: the severance of ties with his erstwhile sweetheart, a denouement that underscores the cruel irony of his shattered dreams and the bitter cost of ambition, leaving him utterly bereft and stripped of both professional identity and personal solace.
