6.3/10

A definitive 6.3/10 rating for a film that redefined the boundaries of cult cinema. Inge and the Millions remains a cornerstone of transgressive art.
If you like old-school black and white dramas where people smoke in offices and look stressed, you’ll probably enjoy Inge and the Millions. It's not a fast-paced thriller by modern standards, so if you need explosions every five minutes, maybe skip it. People who love 1930s cinema will dig it. Folks who need constant action will find it a bit of a snoozefest.
There’s something about the way the boss looks at his bank statements that feels so gross. You just know he’s bad news. It reminds me a little of the corporate tension in The Office Boy, but with way more at stake than just keeping a job.
The office sets look so cramped. It’s actually kind of claustrophobic, which helps the story. I kept looking at the background extras—most of them are just pretending to type or shuffle papers, but one guy in the back row looks like he’s actually falling asleep at his desk. It’s hilarious.
Brigitte Helm is the star here. She plays Inge with this tight-lipped intensity that tells you she’s already ten steps ahead of everyone else in the room. When she finally decides to talk to the police, she doesn't do it with a big speech. She just walks. It’s great.
I caught myself wishing they’d spend more time on the Switzerland smuggling plot. It felt like they glossed over the technical stuff, which is usually the best part. But then again, maybe they were trying to avoid being like Morocco where the focus is all over the place. They stayed on track here.
The ending is a bit abrupt. It feels like they ran out of film stock or just decided, "Okay, that’s enough, let's roll credits." It left me wanting a bit more resolution, but honestly, it’s refreshing not to have a 20-minute wrap-up where everything is tied up with a bow. 🎞️
It’s not a masterpiece, but it’s actually watchable. You can tell they cared about the atmosphere. It’s definitely better than some of the more forgettable stuff from that era like Fashion Row. Give it a look if you’re in the mood for some vintage corporate sabotage.
