6.5/10

A definitive 6.5/10 rating for a film that redefined the boundaries of cult cinema. Traffic Troubles remains a cornerstone of transgressive art.
If you're into early animation, or just need a quick, absurd laugh, Traffic Troubles is definitely worth a few minutes. It's a silly ride, pure old-school Disney chaos, and a real peek into how they did things back then. If you're hoping for a deep story or polished visuals, you'll probably just scratch your head. This one is for the fans of pure, unhinged cartoon logic. 🤷♀️
Mickey, our favorite mouse, is behind the wheel of a taxi here. His first fare? A truly massive gentleman. The kind who fills the entire backseat. You can just feel the springs groan, you know?
Things get wild fast. Mickey, in a bit of a jam, actually stops traffic. This earns him a proper tongue-lashing from a very agitated police officer. The animation in this moment is so simple, but the cop's sheer *fury* really comes through.
Then the road gets rough. And I mean rough. The cab bounces around like crazy, and not only does the fare meter drop to almost nothing, but the poor giant passenger gets bounced right out of the car! 💥 It's so sudden and cartoonishly brutal. You gotta wonder how many takes they did to get that just right.
But the show must go on. Mickey pulls over, no big deal, and picks up his second passenger: Minnie! She's got her accordion, naturally, and just starts playing away in the back. It’s such a charming, random detail. 🎶
Of course, a flat tire strikes. What's a resourceful mouse to do? Well, Mickey finds a pig. And he uses the pig to pump up the tire. No, seriously. He sticks the pig's snout into the valve. It's one of those moments that makes you just burst out laughing at the sheer, beautiful absurdity of it all. 🐷
Just when you think it can’t get stranger, Pegleg Pete shows up. He's a snake oil salesman, peddling his 'elixir.' He pours some into the car, and the car takes off without Mickey! It's got a mind of its own now. Very lively for a broken-down cab.
The car goes on a rampage, crashing and losing its wheels. Then it lands on a cow. A very surprised cow, I might add. The cow, now basically a taxi-cow hybrid, takes off. It crashes into a barn, then a poultry shed. Chaos just follows this vehicle. 🐔
It’s not trying to be anything more than a short burst of frantic fun. And it absolutely nails that. It’s less a story and more a series of escalating, ridiculous events. A pure, delightful dose of early animation history.
