Biography
Galveston, 5 September 1887: a restless kid named Andrew Arbuckle stepped into the world just as Texas was taming its frontier. By his late twenties he had swapped Gulf breezes for klieg lights, turning up on-screen as the steady leading man in Big Tremaine (1916), the rugged marshal of John Petticoats (1919), and the doomed lover in The Spider and the Rose (1923). Off-camera he wed actress Blanche Duquesne, their marriage a quiet counter-melody to the clang of studio bells. Fifty-one years and twelve days after his first breath, Arbuckle’s story ended in Los Angeles on 21 September 1938, the Pacific now replacing the Gulf as the horizon that held his memories.
