Summary
A visceral plunge into the psychological maelstrom of a prizefighter, "The Dangerous Coward" chronicles the harrowing descent of "The Lightning Kid." After a seemingly career-ending blow renders his adversary, The Weazel, incapacitated, the Kid's spirit shatters under the crushing weight of perceived guilt. Forsaking the roar of the crowd and the brutal ballet of the ring, he sheds his formidable identity, adopting the unassuming moniker of Bob Trent and retreating into a self-imposed exile from violence. This poignant narrative, however, is not merely a tale of renunciation but a meticulously woven tapestry of deception and delayed revelation, where the protagonist's carefully constructed new reality ultimately unravels, exposing a profoundly different truth about the fateful encounter and compelling him to confront the phantom of his past, an illusion that had dictated his entire existence.
