Biography
Stillwater, Indian Territory—April 17, 1890—birthed a restless daredevil named Art Acord. By twenty-one he was king of the rodeo circuit, trading bruises for silent-film glory until the camera loved his lasso as fiercely as crowds did. Between 1921 and 1927 he headlined serials and features—*Winners of the West* let him leap from cliff to cliff, *The Set-Up* pitted fists against corruption, and *Set Free* handed him a horse and a last-minute pardon. Off-screen, three weddings followed the rodeo pattern: Edna Nores, Edythe Sterling, and Louise Lorraine each shared a season under the spotlight. The final curtain fell January 4, 1931, in Chihuahua, Mexico, where the cowboy who had outrun stampedes and time itself finally dismounted.
