Biography
A Halloween baby of 1874, Billie Bennett first drew breath in Evansville, Indiana, and spent the next seven decades turning that breath into scene-stealing performances. Silent screens remember her as the spark behind The Galloping Jinx and The Wall Street Whiz (both 1925) and as the style-savvy lead of 1929’s Fashions in Love. Off-camera she shared her life with husband August “Gus” Muhlhausen. Her final curtain fell in Los Angeles on 19 May 1951.
