Biography
A summer baby of 1861, Blanche Davenport first drew breath in London on 11 July. Footlights soon beckoned, and she grew into a performer who flickered to life on early cinema screens: 1916’s The Shine Girl, followed swiftly by The Man Who Made Good and The Crimson Dove, both released in 1917. Decades later she took her final bow, far from her English cradle, on 9 April 1937 in Orangetown, New York.
