Biography
Pittsburgh delivered Charles Hutchison to the world on 3 December 1879, and by the time Hollywood closed his account on 30 May 1949 he had sprinted through silent-cliffhanger fame—as the daredevil star of Lightning Hutch (1926)—shifted gears into pre-Code comedy with Bachelor Mother (1932), and later tightened the reins on the courtroom thriller The Judgement Book (1935). Between stunts and megaphone duties he found steady co-star Edith Thornton; she became his off-screen leading lady for life.
