Biography
A son of Falkirk, Colin Campbell first drew breath on 20 March 1883 and spent the next eighty-three years quietly slipping between continents and careers. By the late 1930s he was lending his voice to cliff-hangers, most memorably the 1938 serial The Secret of Treasure Island. A decade later he resurfaced in The Wife of Monte Cristo (1946) before rounding out his screen story as a narrator for Disney’s 1949 animated double-bill, The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad. Campbell’s final curtain fell on 25 March 1966 in Woodland Hills, Los Angeles, half a world away from the Scottish streets where his journey began.
