Biography
Keokuk, Iowa, greeted Edward Kimball’s first cry on 26 June 1859, and by the time flickering images learned to tell stories, he had already mastered the art of becoming someone else. Silent screens remember him as the conflicted minister in *The Christian* (1914), the wily patriarch of *Boys Will Be Boys* (1921), and the desperate father hunting *The Yellow Passport* (1916). Off-camera, he shared his name—and his life—with Mrs. E.M. Kimball. On 4 January 1938, the California sun set over Hollywood for the last time on his 78-year journey.
