Biography
His father wanted him to go into law but Ellie wanted to act so to keep the peace changed his name and made his stage debut in a troupe led by Basil Rathbone's uncle. Eille wrote a play Hook and Ete and made his stage debut in March 1887 at the Grand Leeds and later toured America and Canada. In 1911 he made his film debut in Princess Clementina.. He made 45 shorts and 2 films as Sherlock Holmes between 1921 and 1923
