Biography
A Berlin Christmas baby of 1892, Ernst Rückert grew into the kind of chameleon performer who could step from the cockpit frenzy of *Sein Rekordflug* (1914) to the shadowy menace of *Der Würger der Welt* (1920) and still muster the gravitas to embody Luther in 1928. The cameras stopped rolling in 1950, somewhere amid the still-scarred German landscape, but the flicker of his brief, electric career keeps looping in the dark.
