Biography
Fred Huntley first drew breath in London on 29 August 1862, and by the time the camera began to roll he had already swapped the fog of the Thames for the klieg lights of Hollywood. Between 1915 and 1921 he shaped early screen history, steering The Ne’er Do Well through its 1915 release, marshaling the 1916 action of Fighting Blood, and guiding the 1921 adaptation of What Every Woman Knows. Huntley both acted in and orchestrated these films, slipping seamlessly in front of and behind the lens. Off-set, he shared his life with Laura, his wife and steadfast partner. His own final curtain fell in Hollywood, California, on 1 November 1931.
