Biography
On a winter’s day in 1880, Fred Immler entered the world, little knowing his face would one day flicker across silent screens from Berlin to Broadway. Between the wars he built a career out of intensity: in 1919 he set hearts racing with Passion, followed a year later by the rhythmic drama Tamburin und Castagnetten, and closed the restless twenties aboard The Ship of Lost Men in 1929. When the final curtain fell, it did so quietly on 1 March 1965, leaving behind the glow of a man who had once spoken volumes without uttering a word.
