Biography
A summer baby delivered on 14 July 1890 in the salt-washed hamlet of Port Orange, Florida, Jay Morley traded palmettos for klieg lights and became the dart-eyed leading man of early Hollywood. Between 1915 and 1919 he galloped through three landmark one-reelers—charging across the screen in *The Palace of Dust*, outwitting danger in *The New Adventures of Terence O'Rourke*, and charming his way through *The Little Boss*—before fading from marquees as quickly as nitrate dissolves. Fifty-seven quiet years later, on 9 November 1976, his story ended in a Santa Monica rest home a mile from the Pacific he once faced in countless cliff-hangers.
