Biography
A crisp New Year’s Day, 1858, rang in the arrival of John Cossar on the banks of the Thames. By the time the silent-film era glowed to life, the Londoner had crossed the Atlantic and slipped comfortably into the skin of a screen chameleon: he sparred with flappers in My Lady of Whims, chased fast money through Fools for Luck, and swapped quips in the nickelodeon romp Two-Bit Seats. Off-camera he shared his name—and his life—with Fanny Cossar. The final curtain fell on 28 April 1935 under the perpetual sunshine of Hollywood, California.
