Biography
A winter baby from the Appalachian foothills, Lillian Lawrence first drew breath on 17 February 1868 in Alexander, West Virginia. Her gift for performance carried her from small-town stages to the flickering new world of cinema, where she slipped into silks and shadows for East Is West (1922), whispered forbidden love in The Voice from the Minaret (1923), and navigated courtly intrigue in Graustark (1925). Less than a year after that last premiere, she died quietly in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, on 7 May 1926.
