Biography
Lionel Braham first drew breath on 1 April 1879 amid the mill-smoked hills of Yorkshire, England, and spent the next six decades turning that regional gravel into stage and screen gold. Moviegoers remember his booming presence as the Ghost of Christmas Present in the 1938 A Christmas Carol, his swaggering wrestler in 1936’s As You Like It, and the dapper chaos of Skinner’s Dress Suit back in 1926. The voice that once shook London boards finally quieted on 6 October 1947 in Hollywood, California, leaving the coast a little less resonant.
