Biography
Otto Treptow stormed across early-1920s German screens like a comet with a crooked grin: first as the lovesick rogue in the sci-fi fantasy *Die goldene Kugel* (1921), then trading slapstick fizz for seductive sparkle in *Mad Love* the same year. Critics still talk about the way he balanced mischief and melancholy in *Raffinierte Frauen. 1. Die Sektmieze* (1923), a breezy Berlin romp that proved he could write every bit as cleverly as he could act. The curtain fell abruptly on 3 March 1924, when Treptow—barely past thirty—left behind a legacy compressed into four impish, unforgettable reels.
