Brooklyn-born on August 22, 1896, W.E. Lawrence was a staple of early American cinema, lending his talents to some of the silent era's most enduring works. He is remembered for his roles in the sprawling 1916 masterpiece Intolerance, the 1917 classic A Little Princess, and the 1922 production of Blood and Sand. His life in the film industry came to a close in Hollywood on November 28, 1947.
