Biography
Jersey’s windswept coastline welcomed Elinor Glyn on 17 October 1864, and from that Channel Island springboard she would grow into the sharp-penned creator of “It,” “Knowing Men,” and “The Price of Things,” the jazz-age screen sensations that turned three simple words into worldwide buzz. Between scandalous bestsellers she stepped before the cameras herself, trading her writing desk for the spotlight, while off-screen she shared her life—and name—with Clayton Glyn. Four days shy of her seventy-ninth birthday, she took her final bow in London on 23 September 1943, leaving behind a legacy that still whispers daring elegance through every reel her words helped spin.
