Biography
Julia Crawford Ivers first drew breath on 3 October 1867 in the pueblo-town that would soon become the world’s film capital—Los Angeles, California. Behind her typewriter she conjured worlds, scripting and steering such early screen triumphs as The Majesty of the Law (1915), A Son of Erin (1916), and The White Flower (1923). Writer, producer, and pioneer in an era when few women called the shots, she remained rooted in her native city until her final scene closed there on 8 May 1930.
