De grootste vooroorlogse kassuccessen Nederlands grootste succesfilms uit de jaren dertig waren films met liedjes: van de Jantjes en Bleeke Bet tot Op stap en Het meisje met den blauwen hoed. En bijna al die liedjes werden succesnummers, gezongen door de grootste sterren van het land, onder wie onvergetelijke namen als Louis Davids, Heintje Davids, Fien de la Mar, Johan Heesters, Lou Bandy, Johan Kaart en Jopie Koopman. Of zoals Fien de la Mar het zong in haar ode aan de pas geopende Cinetone studios in Duivendrecht: De filmartiesten stromen naar Duivendrecht met spoed.naar ons Hollandsch Hollywood. Deze dvd brengt al deze fameuze liedjes in beeld, in de oorspronkelijke scènes uit de bioscoopfilms waar het Nederlands publiek destijds massaal naar kwam kijken. Omdat diezelfde nummers op de 78-toerenplaat vaak in een net iets andere versie werden gezongen ( of door andere artiesten) bevat deze box ook een cd met de alternatieve uitvoeringen. Geluid en beeld, ter herinnering aan de grootste vooroorlogse kassuccessen.
