Biography
Baltimore rang in the New Year of 1872 with the arrival of James Young, a boy who would grow up to command both sides of the camera. By 1913 he had stepped behind the lens for Beau Brummel, followed the next year by David Garrick, and in 1917 sent audiences into a courtroom frenzy with On Trial. Between takes he collected surnames almost as eagerly as credits, wedding Clara Whipple, then Clara Kimball Young, playwright Rida Johnson Young, and finally Julie de Valera-Porkosky. Seventy-six years after that Baltimore sunrise, the curtain fell on him in New York City on 9 June 1948.
