
Summary
In the lush countryside of 19th-century Minas Gerais, a poignant tale of love, family, and loyalty unfolds. Luiz Roldão, a powerful farmer, promises his ailing father that his son Jorge will marry Rosita from the Bento family, uniting their families through matrimony. However, Jorge's heart belongs to Lina, Roldão's goddaughter, who resides on the farm. As Lina's love for Jorge is deemed impossible, she decides to leave the farm with her elderly father, relocating to a humble abode, where she falls gravely ill. Meanwhile, Roldão's daughter Lili becomes engaged to Dr. Carlos from the Bento family. In a surprising turn of events, Jorge brings Lina back to the farm, and with the support of Father Belisário, a close friend of Roldão, the two are permitted to marry, defying the initial promise made by Roldão.
Synopsis
In the Nineteenth Century, in Minas Gerais, the powerful farmer Luiz Roldão promised to his moribund father that his son Jorge would marry Rosita, from the Bento's family, to unite their families through the wedding bonds. However, Jorge loves Lina, the goddaughter of Roldão that lives in the farm. Due to the impossibility of the love with Jorge, Lina decides to leave the farm with her old father, and live in a poor house, becoming very ill. Meanwhile, Roldão's daughter Lili gets engaged of Dr. Carlos, from the Bento's family. Jorge brings Lina back to the farm, and with the support of the local Father Belisário, a great friend of Roldão, she is allowed to marry Jorge.
