Magpie and Dirtyshirt, two rivals vying for the affections of two local women, embark on a series of escalating comedic skirmishes. What begins as a mischievous prank by Magpie—sabotaging Dirtyshirt's horse and leaving his unsuspecting pal stranded—quickly spirals into a full-blown rivalry. Their animosity culminates in a raucous confrontation, abruptly interrupted by the bizarre intervention of a local judge and his peculiar, snuff-addicted pet bear. The animal, enraged by its stimulant, chases the trio in a sequence of chaotic slapstick. The absurdity continues at a subsequent party hosted by Susie, where the judge, inexplicably, arrives in a bear costume, and Pee Wee as a monkey. This elaborate masquerade leads to a perilous misunderstanding when Dirtyshirt, still armed and wary of the earlier bear incident, nearly shoots the disguised judge, mistaking him for the real, untamed beast. The film thus navigates a landscape of petty rivalry, animalistic chaos, and mistaken identity, all set against a backdrop of frontier-era farce.
