
Summary
In a tangled web of desire and deception, Jimmie Carter, a devoted employee of Adolph Brock at the Acme Corporation, finds himself entwined in a complicated romance. While on a drive, he encounters a beautiful young woman on horseback, who subsequently falls and injures herself. Taking her to an abandoned cabin for refuge from the torrential rain, Jimmie is drawn to her charms but resists his impulses, committed to his sweetheart Bessie Barnes. However, after she mysteriously vanishes, Jimmie becomes consumed by thoughts of her and pursues a lead to her apartment. Unbeknownst to him, this enigmatic woman is Peggy Joyce, Brock's gold-digging fiancée with a hidden agenda and a perilous past, threatening to entangle Jimmie in a complicated situation with potentially calamitous repercussions.
Synopsis
Sweethearts Jimmie Carter and Bessie Barnes work for Adolph Brock at the Acme Corporation. One day while he is out for a drive in his jalopy of a car, Jimmie spies a pretty young woman on horseback. After she falls off her horses and gets injured, he leads her to refuge in an abandoned cabin when the heavy rain starts. When she flirts with him, he is attracted to her but stifles his urges, wanting to remain faithful to Bessie. When this woman mysteriously disappears, he can't stop thinking about her and follows her innuendo to meet with her at her apartment, all the while unaware that she is Peggy Joyce, Brock's gold-digging fiancée, who has ulterior motives for coming on to him--which, combined with her dangerous past, could lead to complications for all involved.
