Summary
In a tangled web of deceit and desire, Hector Colbert's decision to divorce his wife Marjorie sets off a chain reaction of events that exposes the societal hypocrisy of the time. When Peters, Marjorie's admirer, engineers a compromising situation to sully her reputation, Colbert's lawyer, Daniel Farr, procures the divorce, but at the cost of Marjorie's good name. A fun-loving woman suffocating under the stifling conventions of her marriage, Marjorie's actions are misconstrued as immorality, rather than a cry for freedom. As fate would have it, Marjorie and Farr cross paths again, and she concocts a plan for revenge, only to be disarmed by her own emotions when she realizes she's fallen for him.
