Summary
A kinetic exploration of early 20th-century consumer obsession, An Auto Nut chronicles the misadventures of a couple whose bibliophilic-grade devotion to acquiring a motorcar leads them into the predatory orbit of a duplicitous legal practitioner. Seeking the liberation of the open road through a newspaper advertisement, the protagonists are ensnared by a shyster lawyer who facilitates a fraudulent transaction involving a defective vehicle. The narrative escalates through a meticulously choreographed insurance scam, wherein a henchman is strategically positioned to simulate a collision. This farcical deception unravels when the husband unmasks the lawyer—who had adopted a police officer's persona through the use of a precarious mustache—leading to a desperate abduction of the wife and a high-velocity vehicular pursuit that serves as the film's frenetic climax.
Synopsis
A couple of auto enthusiasts advertise their desire to own a car in the newspaper. A lawyer of dubious standing persuades them to purchase his vehicle. He then orders his henchman to lie underneath their car and sustain not too serious injuries when the nuts drive over him. The lawyer convincingly disguises himself as a police officer with a mustache, but the husband uncovers the plot by ripping off the hair piece. The lawyer kidnaps the wife, but after a car chase, the husband rescues her.
