Summary
A rather unconventional courtship unfolds as Sid Smith, a man of singular focus, employs his loyal canine companion as an effective, if unorthodox, deterrent against any rival suitor daring to approach the object of his affections, Duane Thompson. Having successfully cleared the field, Smith, with an air of triumphant determination, tenders his proposal. However, Thompson, a woman of discerning pragmatism, steadfastly refuses to commit until her prospective husband can provide a domicile of his very own, a tangible symbol of stability and independence. Undeterred, Smith embarks upon this architectural quest, acquiring a perilous plot of land perched precariously on the very precipice of a cliff. With the assistance of an equally hapless compatriot, he endeavors to assemble a pre-fabricated dwelling, a testament to modern efficiency, albeit one of dubious structural integrity. Following a series of slapstick mishaps and a considerable expenditure of effort, the flimsy edifice is finally coaxed into an upright, albeit wobbly, position. Duane, now the radiant bride, arrives with a minister in tow, eager to solemnize their union within the walls of their new, albeit temporary, abode. Yet, in a cruel twist of fate, immediately following the pronouncement of their vows, the aforementioned helper, through an act of sheer, clumsy inadvertence, precipitates the entire house – and with it, perhaps, the nascent dreams of domestic bliss – into the churning abyss below.
