Set against the dusty, high-stakes arenas of early 20th-century Spain, this adaptation of Alejandro Pérez Lugín’s seminal novel follows the arduous journey of Currito, an orphan raised in a religious institution with a singular, burning ambition: to become a legendary matador. His path to glory is complicated by his unwavering devotion to Rocío, the daughter of his mentor, Manuel Carmona. However, the narrative takes a sharp turn into melodrama when the villainous and charismatic bullfighter Riffante seduces Rocío, leading to a sprawling tale of disgrace, revenge, and the search for redemption through the ritualistic violence of the bullring.
