Prince Levan Pantiashvili, a relic of a bygone era, finds his once-grand fortune irrevocably squandered by a life of unrepentant revelry. Faced with imminent financial ruin, the aging aristocrat contrives a pragmatic solution: a strategic marriage to Elo, the demure and beautiful daughter of the newly wealthy merchant, Adam Varakhidze.
