Dorsey, a man perpetually ensnared by his own profound timidity, embarks on a series of comically futile attempts to propose marriage. His awkward endeavors are not helped by the well-intentioned, yet ultimately unavailing, intercessions of his companions, Tripp and Fall, whose presence serves primarily to underscore Dorsey's inherent inadequacy rather than to advance his romantic aspirations. It is Mazie herself, the object of Dorsey's affections and the employer of the very man too shy to articulate his feelings, who decisively cuts through the charade. With a pragmatic stroke, she assumes control of her own destiny, inscribing an unequivocal 'yes' on the card Dorsey was too nervous to present, thereby orchestrating her own marital fate with a blend of shrewdness and playful self-determination.
