Misdeal

Maldone, a canal worker who has deliberately distanced himself from his wealthy family, finds contentment in his simple life. His world brightens further when he falls deeply in love with Zita, a spirited young gypsy girl, during a vibrant local festival. However, this peaceful existence is shattered by the unexpected death of his brother, forcing Maldone to return to his ancestral estate and assume the responsibilities of a landowner. He marries a neighbor's daughter, settling into a life of privilege and duty. Yet, years later, the opulent estate feels more like a gilded cage, and Maldone's buried passions resurface with a vengeance when he has a chance encounter with Zita, reigniting a dangerous obsession.
